The Rosemount 8721 Hygienic Magnetic Sensor is specifically designed for food, beverage and pharmaceutical applications that require a reliable, safe, and hygienic design.

  • All-welded sensor designed for food, beverage and pharmaceutical applications
  • Contact surfaces constructed of FDA-approved materials that comply with 3-A and EHEDG standards
  • Lightweight compact design makes installation easy
  • Sizes range from 0.5 to 4 inch (15 to 100 mm)

  • Product contact surfaces constructed of FDA approved materials designed in accordance with 3A and EHEDG standards.
  • Sensor is CIP ⁄ SIP cleanable, and the sensor I.D. matches the process piping to eliminate hard-to-clean step changes.
  • Available with a variety of sanitary process connections with easily accessed process gaskets to facilitate inspection and maintenance.
  • Compact, all stainless steel meter body is fully-welded, and critical junctures are potted to provide a hermetic seal, protecting the internal components and wiring from pressurized steam, water and sanitation chemicals

Applications:


The 8721 hygienic sensor is specifically designed for the demanding applications in food, beverage, and life sciences. The robust, all-welded, full diameter sensor is constructed of FDA approved materials that are fit for purpose, and is authorized to display the 3-A Symbol (Authorization #1222), is certified by EHEDG (#C03-5229) and is approved for use in FDA Grade A milk meter based timing loops (M-b 350). Sizes range from ½” (15mm) to 4” (100mm) and are available in a variety of industry standard process connections.


Availability:


With a wide range of liner and electrode materials available, the Rosemount 8700 Series Magnetic Flowmeter family is suitable for virtually any conductive liquid application. Rosemount Magnetic Flowmeters offer the benefit of measuring flow in a package unaffected by density, temperature, pressure, and viscosity change.

Step 3: Electrode Type and Material Selection

Button 

Standard electrode design. Use for most applications, especially where abrasion is a concern. Has fair resistance to coating which can be improved by properly sizing sensor. 


Bullet-nose 

Use where coating is a concern and no solids are present. Bullet-nose electrode should not be used in abrasive or slurry applications as the particles will result in increased process noise on the electrodes.

316L SST

Standard electrode material. Compatible with most low concentration water based applications. Avoid using stainless in higher concentration acid applications.

Nickel Alloy 276

Use in medium to high concentration acids where SST is not acceptable. Use in applications with high chloride concentrations, such as sea water.

Platinum
(80% Platinum, 20% Iridium)

Ideal for liquor applications found in pulp and paper industry. Also ideal as a spare electrode option to cover nearly every application in a plant. Compatible with nearly every process fluid.

Tantalum

Ideal for high concentration acid flows such as hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids.

Titanium

Ideal for high concentration caustic (base) applications such as sodium and potassium hydroxides.
